Most men won’t realize that they have a low sperm count until it comes time
to have a baby. If a couple is having trouble conceiving a child both partners
will generally be subjected to certain tests. One of the first tests that the
man will have to endure is having his sperm count tested.
For some men this can be a difficult experience. Taking the test and
acknowledging that the reason he and his partner aren’t able to conceive lies
within his body can be a difficult pill for a man to swallow. It can cause many
conflicted feelings for both partners but it’s important to find the problem and
then do whatever the doctor suggests to deal with it.
Premature Ejaculation Problems
When a man suffers from premature ejaculation, it’s important to determine
the sperm count early because if this is the primary reason for a couple’s
inability to conceive it gives the doctor something to work with. He or she will
use that information to determine the appropriate course of action that will
enable the couple to fulfill their dream of becoming parents. If a man has a
sperm count that is below 20 million sperm per ml that is then referred to as a
low sperm count. This means that his sperm production is below average. This can
lead to fertility problems. However, having a low sperm count is very common and
in some cases it is simply a temporary condition.
What To Do Now?
If you are a man who has been told that you have a low sperm count and you
want to conceive a child it’s important to discuss the alternatives with your
doctor. Your doctor will work closely with you to determine the cause of the
decreased sperm and if possible offer suggestions for ways that you can either
increase the sperm count or better your chances of conception. Having a low
sperm count does not automatically mean that you will not be able to father a
child. It simply means that you may need to make adjustments to your lifestyle
or habits to better increase your sperm count.
A low sperm count may result in some difficulties when it comes to conceiving
a child but it does not necessarily mean that you won’t be a father. Be open
minded and willing to make adjustments that your doctor suggests.
